Structural Insulated Panels (SIPS)

What are SIPS?

Structural Insulated Panels are the modern alternative to timber frame. They comprise two layers of OSB board bonded to a rigid urethane insulation core giving a total thickness of 142mm. The panels are used to construct walls and roofs.

What is the Kingspan TEK Building System?

This comprises structural insulated panels (SIPS) used for walls and roofs with timber I beams to intermediate floors to form a structural shell.

What are the benefits?

Sustainable – high energy efficiency, low U-values, air tight construction, low site wastage, CFC/HCFC free with zero ozone depletion potential.
Egan compliant – faster construction time, earlier commencement of following trades, improved cashflow, factory produced for fewer defects
Space – reduced wall thickness means greater internal area, ideally suited to provide room in the roof
Financial – energy savings, capital cost savings, labour cost savings, reduced site wastage, reduced construction duration
