We continue to be very busy throughout all our departments at Cubby Construction working on a variety of projects across a range of sectors. We have a few projects, innovations and recent activities that we would like to share with you.
Cubby Joinery Website
We are delighted to announce the launch of the brand new Cubby Joinery website which is an individual site exclusive to our joinery facility. Designed and developed by Make Us Visible, the site demonstrates and showcases the quality craftsmanship of our highly skilled in-house joinery team and all the joinery services available.
Carlisle Cathedral Fratry
It has been a while since our last update on the Fratry project at Carlisle Cathedral. Work is progressing very well with the first stone arch being completed and red sandstone blocks being installed. It is fantastic to start seeing the medieval Fratry building coming to life.
Once completed the Fratry will be accessible to all, with improved facilities for visitors, and a brand new café with modern facilities. We are so proud to be a part of such a significant heritage project and we look forward to the final completion.
Lloyd South Lakes BMW
We have recently been working on a renovation project at Lloyd South Lakes BMW in Grange-Over-Sands.
This project has involved updating and refurbishing their showroom, extending the current showroom to produce 4 new offices and additional customer toilets using traditional and local materials.
This work has also included stripping and replacing wall capping, removing bedrock to create additional parking, and constructing a new 4 bay workshop and valet bays. Internally we have removed the existing floor slab and are installing underfloor heating.
We have substantial experience and an extensive track record of construction projects within the Commercial sector. Over the years we have worked on the construction, conversion and renovation of hotels, bars, restaurants, premium retail units and office complexes including car showrooms. You can take a look at some of our previous Commercial case studies here.
We’ve also recently completed a private barn conversion. This was a complete renovation of an existing building. This project truly demonstrates the incredible work and craftsmanship of our joinery team with all internal works including roofing structures, staircase, doors, and windows were manufactured in our joinery workshop.
For barn conversion projects such as this one, our joinery manufacturing capability is an important factor in delivering the fine quality and striking attention to detail which comes with unique homes with period features.
From one-off new builds and extensions to entire housing developments, the entire Cubby team has the experience and skills to deliver on the unique requirements of the Residential and Social housing sector. Take a look at some of our previous work.
Keswick to Threlkeld Path
Work is now well underway on the repairs to the Keswick to Threlkeld footpath which was severely damaged by Storm Desmond and has subsequently been closed since 2015.
The aim of this project is to repair the remaining 5 kilometres of the trail, and renovate, extend and reopen the ‘big tunnel’. We will also be responsible for the construction of new bridges as well as repairing and improving an existing bridge.
200 metres of brand new footpath will be built and we will also undertake substantial riverworks including stabilising the river bank and repairing drainage and walls. Once completed, the entire route will be reconnected and can once again be enjoyed by the local community and visitors to the area.
For questions and further information on this project please visit and contact the Lake District National Park Authority.
Exhibitions & Shows
On a very wet September day, we exhibited with a trade stand at the Westmorland County Show. This is one of the most successful and well attended agricultural shows in the county so it was very important to exhibit and showcase the entire work of Cubby Construction, particularly with regard to our experience in the Agricultural sector.
We also attended the Carlisle Ambassadors event at the new Carlisle Lake District Airport. The show’s theme for this year was Development and Regeneration. As a leading construction company with experience in all areas of development and civil engineering, this was an important event for us to attend with regard to networking opportunities and highlighting our substantial contributions and previous experience in development and regeneration services.
In terms of upcoming events, we will be attending the Homebuilding & Renovating Show in both Edinburgh and Harrogate. We will be demonstrating our experience in the residential and housing sector offering advice and inspiration.
