Safety, Health, Environmental & Wellbeing Manager

As the successful Safety, Health, Environmental & Wellbeing Manager you’ll report directly to the leadership team and empowered financially and operationally to continuously improve what we do and how we do it. Ensuring the delivery of great projects to safely and sustainably.

This highly influential position is suited to applicants with a desire to build-out an effective, and collaborative team within the medium term. Framing and delivering our regulatory compliance programme and contributing to our people and corporate social responsibility agenda.

 

Key Tasks:

  • Promote employee engagement to empower employees to provide proactive solutions to any potential health, safety, environmental and quality issues.
  • To act as the company’s management representative in relation to maintaining and developing ISO and other accreditations.
  • Produce construction health, safety and environmental method statements, risk assessments and other associated documentation.
  • To complete inspections on a regular basis to ensure sites are at the highest standard of health and safety.
  • To work in conjunction with external auditors/consultants to ensure the company is complying with the current legislation.
  • To deliver continuous improvement of the company’s the safety and quality culture through development of key safety behaviours and behavioural management with employee engagement.
  • Conduct accident investigations and develop relevant reports.
  • Provide relevant data to the Leadership Team and carry out quarterly meetings to discuss safety, health, environmental and quality matters.
  • Develop and renew safety policies and procedures.
  • Ensure employees are aware of the importance of and follow safety protocols.
  • To work alongside existing administration teams to continue to develop the existing training and health surveillance programs.
  • To work with the site, workshop and administration teams to ensure plant and equipment is compliant, fit for purpose and commercially viable
  • Undertake on-the-job training and attending courses to maintain and build skills, knowledge and experience in construction safety, health, environmental and quality management.
  • Record procedural non-conformities identified following audits, inspections or following events and continuously review and improve controls to prevent recurrence;
  • Other ad hoc duties as required

 

Qualifications/Experience:

  • Advanced knowledge of health, safety, environmental and quality.
  • NEBOSH General / Construction Certificate or equivalent
  • NEBOSH Diploma OHS
  • Environmental Qualification
  • Knowledge of Management Systems e.g. ISO 9001, ISO 14001 & OHSAS 18001 -would be advantageous
  • A minimum of 5 years’ experience in the construction industry.
