Last week, our team partnered with Cumbria Youth Alliance for an inspiring day along the Keswick to Threlkeld Railway Trail in the Lake District. Cubby Construction restored the trail Storm Desmond’s devastated the area in 2015.
Students explored the trail’s innovative redesign, including new bridges, a tunnel, and flood-resilient pathways that harmonise with the natural landscape. Discussions highlighted challenges like rerouting sections from the unstable River Greta, using local materials, and balancing engineering rigour with environmental and heritage conservation.
A heartfelt thank you to our team members who organised this enriching experience, sparking curiosity about civil engineering careers. Their expertise and passion left a lasting impression on the students, proving the power of hands-on learning.
