We’re delighted to announce that the Castles and Coasts Head Office refurbishment project has been shortlisted for three categories at the North West Regional Construction Awards!

Set in the heart of the historic quarter in Carlisle, this sympathetic refurbishment and extension of a grade II listed building has provided modernised open plan office spaces, meeting rooms, kitchens, washroom facilities and the addition of a steel framed atrium. Bringing a redundant former business information centre back to life with an entirely new interior and highly insulated external envelope that will help save over 5 tonnes of carbon emissions per year. With Listed Building Consent we were able to install a photovoltaic array of 34 roof mounted panels that will generate an estimated yield of 9660 kWh per annum. The interior spaces are designed to adapt to a more agile workforce with open seating arrangements and a series of meeting pods, bookable office spaces and a large new steel framed central atrium that will be used as a social hub for the entire building.
