Landslip Repairs

During Storm Desmond in 2015, the exposed rock face of the A66 at Bassenthwaite Lake had become distressed and therefore potentially unstable.

Works were carried out for Highways England on the banks of Bassenthwaite Lake which is a SSSI to further protect the existing carriageway of the A66. The working involved the excavation of the existing bank, installation of rock armour revetment, footpath installation and landscaping to 850m section of the western shore of Bassenthwaite Lake.
