Trainee Estimator

We’re seeking a new Trainee Estimator to expand our pre-contracts team and work towards a rewarding career in the Construction Industry. The Trainee Estimator plays a pivotal role at the front end of the company, helping secure future projects for the company to successfully deliver on site.

Established in 1968, you’ll be joining a company with proven success, clear goals, and a strong commitment to finding the best person for the job! This is an entry level role where you’ll be supported to obtain competitive quotations, review tender documents, assess the scope of works, calculate project costs, and assist the submission of tender bids.

The ideal candidate will have excellent communication skills, to effectively communicate with clients, project managers, and other members of the team.

Key Responsibilities:

Training and learning towards the Trainee Estimator position whose key responsibilities are;

  • Supporting the Estimating Team with sub-contractor and materials quote requests.
  • Developing and maintaining an approved list of sub-contractors and suppliers.
  • Assisting in carrying out site visits to determine nature of works.
  • Communicate effectively with the whole construction team, on delivery dates and any unloading requirements.
  • Updating tenders with quotations received from sub-contractors and suppliers.
  • Keep detailed records and maintaining well-organised work schedules.
  • Arrange and prepare commercial documents for tender handover meetings.

Qualifications/Experience/Qualities:

It is likely that a Trainee Estimator at Cubby Construction will:

  • Have the ambition to learn and develop a career in estimating.
  • Be analytical, can work with numbers and excellent attention to detail.
  • Be able to develop into a confident communicator with a professional telephone manner.
  • Be a self-starter with ability to over time manage own workload.
  • Have a keen interest in the construction and the environmental sector.
  • Hold a clean and Full driving licence, or a commitment to achieve this.
  • Estimating and or administration experience is desirable but not essential.
  • Possess good IT skills including being proficient in the use of Microsoft Office products especially Excel and Project are desirable.
