Carlisle-based Cubby Construction has announced its sponsorship of the 80th anniversary celebrations of Annan’s historic Riding of the Marches, reaffirming its commitment to supporting the communities at the heart of its projects.

The much-loved annual event, which attracts thousands of visitors to the town each year and has a history spanning over 600 years, is celebrating eight decades as a modern annual event, bringing together residents and visitors for a day of pageantry, heritage and community spirit.

As a major sponsor of this year’s celebrations, Cubby Construction representatives will take part in the day’s events, including the morning reception, the traditional parade through Annan and the afternoon festivities on Annan Academy playing fields.

The company will also host an information point at the playing fields, where members of the public will have the opportunity to meet the team and learn more about the local projects it is delivering and opportunities to become more involved.

Cubby Construction believes that maintaining a strong presence within the community is an essential part of delivering successful projects and sees the Riding of the Marches as the perfect opportunity to engage directly with local people.

“As the main contractor for local projects in Annan and southern Scotland, it’s vital that we remain visible, approachable and engaged with the local communities. We want local people to feel part of this journey and to understand the opportunities and benefits redevelopments will bring for generations to come.

Community engagement is at the heart of how we work. Sponsoring events like the Riding of the Marches and taking part in the celebrations allows us to build relationships, answer questions and demonstrate our long-term commitment to Annan and the wider region.

“We are absolutely delighted to be working in partnership with Cubby Construction, particularly at such an exciting time for Annan with the regeneration of the harbour now underway.

The Riding of the Marches is a celebration of our town’s heritage and community spirit, and the support we receive from local businesses is vital to the event’s continued success. Alongside public sector funding, sponsorship from organisations such as Cubby Construction helps ensure we can continue to deliver an event that brings the whole community together and preserves this important tradition for future generations.
