Cumberland Infirmary Car Park Completion
The project has delivered 188 new car parking spaces, exclusively for hospital staff. This provides much needed capacity and improved access to their essential workplace. By easing parking pressures, it allows staff to be more punctual and reduce daily stress. This shifts their focus to delivering high quality patient care without the added concern of finding a parking space during busy periods.
The brand-new car park has been designed and constructed with durability, safety, and efficient water management in mind. This ensures minimal maintenance requirements.
Key works included:
- Installation of drainage systems and manholes for reliable long-term performance, even during extreme weather events
- Surfacing designed for heavy daily use
- Surface water pumps and attenuation tanks to manage rainwater and prevent flooding while maintaining optimal site drainage throughout the year
- Oil interceptors to protect the local environment from contaminants and ensure compliance with environmental regulations
- Infrastructure improvements to ensure safe and sufficient access for staff vehicles including clear road markings, lighting, and signage for improved visibility and safety
Long Term Benefits for the Hospital
All these features allow the new car park to be functional and resilient from day one. It possesses the necessary attributes to deal with extreme weather for years to come, supporting uninterrupted hospital operations.
We’re delighted to play a pivotal role in enhancing infrastructure at the Cumberland Infirmary. This project stands as a testament to the skill, dedication, and teamwork of everyone involved. Thanks to our project team and partners who worked hard to deliver this project to a high standard within budget.
