We are seeking a skilled and detail‑focused Bench Joiner to join our workshop team. The successful candidate will be responsible for manufacturing high‑quality bespoke joinery items, working from technical drawings, and ensuring all products meet industry and company standards. This is a hands‑on role suited to someone with strong craftsmanship, accuracy, and pride in their work.
Key Responsibilities
Workshop Production
- Manufacture joinery components including doors, frames, windows, stair parts, cabinetry and bespoke items.
- Work from drawings, cutting lists, and specifications with excellent attention to detail.
- Use a full range of woodworking machinery such as panel saws, planers, spindle moulders, sanders.
- Hand‑craft components using traditional and modern joinery methods.
- Assemble products ensuring excellent fit, finish, and quality standards.
Quality & Compliance
- Ensure all work meets required tolerances and finishes.
- Follow health & safety guidelines, RAMS, and safe working practices at all times.
- Maintain a clean and organised work area.
- Check materials and finished items for defects, correcting issues where appropriate.
Collaboration & Communication
- Work closely with the Working Foremen, workshop team, and designers.
- Report material shortages, defects, or technical issues promptly.
- Support colleagues to meet production deadlines and maintain workflow.
Skills & Experience Required
Essential
- Proven experience as a bench joiner in a workshop environment.
- Strong practical joinery skills and craftsmanship.
- Ability to interpret drawings and technical specifications accurately.
- Competent in the safe use of woodworking machinery and hand tools.
- Good understanding of timber materials, sheet goods, and hardware.
- High attention to detail and pride in producing high‑quality work.
Desirable
- NVQ Level 2/3 or City & Guilds qualification in Carpentry & Joinery (or equivalent).
- Experience with CNC machinery or edge‑banding equipment.
- Knowledge of window production for commercial or residential projects.
