Business Development Manager
Cubby Construction (part of the Cubby Group) is a trusted name in construction and engineering, delivering high-quality, multi-disciplinary solutions across building & construction, civil engineering, rail, utilities, plant & transport, energy & MEP services, and bespoke joinery. From design through to completion, our in-house expertise ensures we consistently deliver complex projects across the UK. We are looking for an experienced Business Development Manager to join our Estimating Team.
The Role
The Business Development Manager will drive growth across Cubby Construction by identifying new commercial opportunities, strengthening client relationships, and enhancing the company’s profile within regional and national construction markets. The role promotes collaboration across Pre-Construction, IT, Marketing, Media, and operational teams to secure new work and maximise value from Cubby’s client base.
Key Responsibilities
Business Growth & Opportunity Development
- Identify and pursue new business opportunities across Cubby’s existing divisions and potential new sectors.
- Develop new business opportunities with both existing and new customers to diversify and strengthen Cubby’s project pipeline.
- Demonstrate an innovative, proactive approach to exploring new opportunities and markets.
- Maximise conversion of all new leads, tenders, and enquiries to secure profitable work.
- Conduct research on organisations, frameworks, and industry sectors to identify commercial construction opportunities.
Client & Stakeholder Relationships
- Act as a high‑level point of contact for prospective clients, consultants, and partners.
- Develop and maintain strong, positive relationships with existing and new clients, maximising long‑term value and repeat business.
- Attend conferences, meetings, networking events, and industry exhibitions on behalf of Cubby Group.
Marketing, Brand & Communications
- Plan and support marketing initiatives that promote Cubby’s construction capabilities and completed projects.
- Communicate company news, project updates, and service information to subscribed members of the Cubby Construction database.
- Develop and maintain a library of testimonials, photographs, case studies, and quotations for bids and marketing materials.
- Maximise award submissions and recognition opportunities to enhance Cubby’s brand presence.
Corporate & Community Engagement
- Support and promote Cubby’s community involvement, charity partnerships, and CSR initiatives.
Internal Collaboration & Reporting
- Collaborate closely with internal departments including Construction, Development, Marketing, IT, and Media to ensure coordinated delivery.
- Keep internal teams informed on project opportunities, client intelligence, and relevant service updates.
- Participate in Senior Leadership Team (SLT) meetings and complete reporting requirements as needed.
Team Support
- Contribute to development goals, performance, and wellbeing of business development colleagues where required.
Skills & Experience
- Experience in business development or commercial roles in a similar industry.
- Strong understanding of construction procurement, tendering, frameworks, and project lifecycles.
- Excellent communication, influencing, and relationship‑building skills.
- Strong research capability with the ability to analyse markets and identify opportunities.
- Experience supporting marketing, bids, or client‑facing presentations.
- High level of organisation and ability to manage multiple opportunities simultaneously.
