General Operative

Briscoe Construction a part of Cubby Construction, Carlisle is an established Civil Engineering and Building Company based in Carnforth near Lancaster and operating throughout the North West of England. We carry out a wide variety of building and civil engineering projects, in the roles of Main and Principal Contractor and have a broad spectrum of clients working on projects ranging from £5,000 to £2million in value. These include clients within the Utilities (Electric, Water & Renewables), Health, MOD, Education, Highways & Infrastructure, Public & Charitable, Commercial & Retail, Industrial, Conservation, Nuclear, Coastal and Residential sectors.

Key Tasks:

• Helping skilled tradespeople with every aspect of the building process;
• Following all health and safety procedures;
• Mixing and pouring concrete to make foundations, beams or floors;
• Digging trenches for foundations;
• Fixing scaffolding and building frames;
• Laying pavements and resurfacing roads;
• Marking out the area for the site using string lines and putting up barriers and safety signs;
• Laying drainage pipes, pavements and manhole covers;
• Operating hand machinery such as drills, pumps and compressors;
• Operating machinery such as excavators and dumper truckers.

Skills/ Qualifications/Experience:

• A Reliable person who is able to work in a fast paced environment;
• Strong attention to detail;
• High level of accuracy;
• Excellent communication skills;
• Experience in a similar role.
• CSCS Card Essential.
