We are looking for an experienced Business Development Estimator to join our Joinery team.
Role Purpose
The Joinery Business Development Estimator will support growth within the joinery division by identifying new opportunities, preparing accurate project estimates, and building strong client relationships.
Key Responsibilities
Business Growth & Opportunity Development
Identify and pursue new business opportunities within joinery and related construction sectors.
Conduct market research to understand emerging trends, niche markets, and potential growth areas.
Seek opportunities to engage new clients, promote joinery capabilities, and secure future work.
Estimating & Planning
Prepare accurate and competitive estimates for joinery projects, ensuring all elements—materials, labour, transport, equipment, and production—are fully considered.
Interpret and analyse technical drawings, specifications, and tender documents.
Ensure costings support profitable delivery within programme and budget constraints.
Research & Analysis
Conduct detailed research into materials, suppliers, labour requirements, manufacturing processes, and logistical needs.
Attend site visits to gather accurate information, including measurements and installation requirements.
Evaluate risks, constraints, and commercial opportunities in each project.
Client & Stakeholder Communication
Develop and maintain strong relationships with contractors, clients, suppliers, and internal teams.
Liaise with design, production, project management, and quality teams to ensure alignment on scope, requirements, and project expectations.
Support the preparation of proposals, quotations, and tender submissions.
Internal Collaboration & Reporting
Work closely with joinery workshop teams to assess production feasibility and timelines.
Communicate clearly with internal stakeholders regarding project updates, client intelligence, and relevant market insights.
Provide regular updates to the Managing Director on pipeline development and conversion rates.
Skills & Experience
Experience in estimating within the joinery or construction sector.
Strong understanding of bench joinery, workshop processes, and manufacturing techniques.
Ability to interpret technical drawings and specifications.
Excellent analytical and research skills with strong attention to detail.
Proven ability to build and maintain positive working relationships with clients and project teams.
Highly organised with the ability to manage multiple estimates and deadlines.
