Cubby Construction completed a programme of highway improvement works to the access road connecting the A591 to Rydal Mount in the Lake District.
The project involved resurfacing the existing carriageway, restoring traditional cobbled drainage gutters and undertaking repairs to the hairpin section of the road, improving access while preserving the character of the surrounding environment.
The works included resurfacing the full width of the access road from its junction with the A591 to the entrance of Rydal Mount, extending between the existing cobbled drainage channels on either side of the carriageway.
Both cobbled gutters were carefully restored, retaining their traditional appearance while supporting effective surface water drainage. A new line of bollards was installed along one side of the carriageway, positioned on flat kerbs to create a designated pedestrian walkway, improve safety and prevent unauthorised roadside parking.
Additional repairs were undertaken to the hairpin section of the road, addressing areas of the existing carriageway requiring improvement.
The scheme also incorporated measures designed to improve pedestrian safety and discourage unauthorised parking, with provision for a designated pedestrian walkway separated from vehicle movements.
The completed works improved the condition and accessibility of the road, providing a renewed carriageway while retaining the traditional cobbled features that contribute to its character.
