Trinity Sports Hall
Trinity was one of the major landmarks left swamped in Storm Desmond back in December 2015, losing 40 per cent of its floor area – including its old gym.
The school was left struggling for months after the floods without any access to sporting facilities.
The £1.8m sports hall built at Carlisle’s largest school was instigated by city planners as part of their flood fightback from the 2015 winter floods.
From demolition to completion
The project commenced mid 2017 with the design of the new facility, quickly followed by demolition of the old building, ground clearance and preparation. The site suffered from very poor ground conditions, requiring the installation of vibro piles during ground works.
On completion of the project, Brian Champkins our contract manager commented proudly “The great teamwork by everyone involved in this project has resulted in a fantastic building being completed to an extremely high quality, on time and to budget.”
