Cubby Construction is one of just three local contractors to be appointed to all three lots of Cumberland Council’s capital works framework covering building and civil engineering projects across the area until the end of 2029.

The framework will be used for schemes up to £6 million in value, with scope to push above that threshold on more complex mixed civils and building projects.

The framework has been divided into three lots, with each one carrying an estimated value of around £200 million;

  • Lot 1 covers general building works, including planned maintenance, refurbishment and new-build projects across schools and corporate properties.
  • Lot 2 covers civil engineering, including highway improvements, bridges, flood-prevention schemes and public realm upgrades.
  • Lot 3 combines both building and civil engineering services and is aimed at more complex projects, with no upper value cap.

Cumberland Council has appointed 15 different contractors across all three lots, with the framework due to begin on 1 January 2026.

Kirk Taylor, Cubby Construction Managing Director, said: “We are pleased to be appointed to all three lots on the capital works framework and look forward to further developing our strong relationship with Cumberland Council by continuing to deliver high-quality building and civil engineering projects that generate local value.

“This supports our wider strategy for growth across Cubby Group and allows us to build on our strong reputation for quality works across Cumberland and Cumbria.”
