Ellis Brigham is a well-known name in outdoor retail, stocking high-end walking and mountaineering clothes, footwear, accessories and equipment.
This project gave Cubby Construction the opportunity to revitalise an ageing unit into a modern retail space which reflects the premium nature of the store to enhance Ellis Brigham’s customer experience.
The 10-week programme of works included:
- Full internal strip-out of existing finishes, fittings, and redundant services.
- Removal and renewal of the shop front and entrance doors.
- Removal of a portion of the ceiling to allow for new service installations.
- Complete electrical rewiring.
- Plastering to all walls and ceilings to provide a high-quality finish.
- Screeding and laying of new floor tiling.
- Installation of wall tiling in designated areas.
- Supply and installation of bespoke shop fixtures, shelving, display units, and counters.
Due to the project’s town-centre location, careful planning and coordination were essential to minimise disruption to neighbouring businesses and the public. Construction activities, including deliveries and waste removal, were scheduled to avoid peak pedestrian and traffic periods, ensuring continued access to surrounding shops and services. To maintain public safety during the removal and replacement of the shopfront and entrance door, secure hoardings and protective barriers were installed along Lake Road, creating a safe working environment while preserving pedestrian movement through the area.
