Following the successful completion of a previous project at Cumwhinton School, we were delighted to be invited back to undertake a further phase of works, which were completed in early 2026.
The original project involved the construction of a new single-storey building comprising a modern classroom and associated ancillary accommodation, designed to provide additional teaching space and support the school’s growing operational needs.
This initial phase compromised of:
• Laying a concrete slab floor
• Masonry retaining walls and cavity walls
• Concrete strip foundations
• Insulated pitched roof with concrete tiles
• Internal door installation
• Installation of UPVC glazed windows and doors
• Metal stud and timber frame internal wall systems
• All plasterwork, decoration and floor finishes.
We were then invited back to the school to complete further works that included mechanical and electrical installations to the new building, together with upgrades to the existing building, including enhancements to the fire alarm system.
External works comprised new surfacing, retaining structures, and alterations to adjacent existing surfaces as required.
Alongside new hot and cold water services and ventilation systems designed to meet internal environmental requirements, alterations to foul and surface water drainage systems were also undertaken, including connections to existing systems beyond the immediate site boundaries.
As the school remained fully operational throughout both projects, health, safety, and safeguarding were key considerations during all phases of the works.
Strict measures were implemented to protect both the construction team and the school community, with all contractor activities carefully coordinated around the school’s daily operations.
“Thanks everyone for all your hard work… the best team came together to see the project over the finish line and the result speaks for itself! Special mentions go to Neil of course for thinking at least two steps ahead, keeping the peace and always being there.”
