Refurbishment & Extension

English Lakes Hotels

The scope of works included the full internal refurbishment and reconfiguration of the existing gym space to create a high-quality spa suite complete with treatment rooms and supporting facilities.

Key elements included:

All works were undertaken in line with current health, safety and building control standards.

Structural alterations included minor demolition works and the formation of a new opening through an existing masonry wall to accommodate a new door/sliding door arrangement within the north gable elevation.

These works facilitated improved access and circulation between the newly created spa facilities and the wider resort.

Delivering the project within a live hotel presented several logistical and operational challenges. Maintaining guest experience was a key priority, requiring strict control of noise, dust and site access.

To address this, works were carefully programmed within agreed working hours (8am–5pm), with clear segregation between construction areas and public hotel spaces. Regular programme reviews allowed flexibility around lead-in times for specialist joinery and aluminium door sets, ensuring the project remained on track while maintaining quality and safety standards.

By maintaining clear communication, professional site conduct and a considerate approach to working within a busy hotel environment, the project supported the client’s wider ethos of creating positive experiences for both guests and the surrounding community.
